WORSHP TEAM COVENANT

WE ARE ALL WORSHIPERS. NO ONE IS A SPECTATOR.

worship team guidlines and standards

thank you!

Thank you for taking an interest in serving on the worship team at Coastline. Everyone is a worshipper. We believe joining this team is a great honor, responsibility and privledge as we "get to" lead people together in worship of God. This leadership comes with certain guidelines for our organization. Please take some time to consider "what it means" to be apart of the team.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for demonstrating interest in being a part of the worship ministry at Coastline. We love doing what we do, and we are thankful you want to join the team. Just like in music, it is uber important that we all understand our role on the team for there to be great unity and harmony. As a potential team member whether a vocalist or musician, we ask that you read through the following dialogue so that you understand to what you are committing. At the end, please complete the form signifying that you agree to the worship team covenant. If you have any questions, please reach out send your questions or concerns to music@coastlinebaptist.org

Why Worship?

The purpose of the Worship Team is to enhance the worship experience for all who attend. Music is one of the tools that God uses to bring our hearts and minds into alignment with His will and His purposes. We sing and play our instruments for His glory and His pleasure first. Our singing and playing should be an expression of our praise and worship to God and a way to model and inspire those in the congregation to do the same. It is never about us, it’s about Him.

The purpose of this covenant, is to serve as an agreement between team members and leadership to uphold the mission and values of Coastline in both a personal manner and a manner that positively reflects the team and church as a whole. The ultimate goal is to create a healthy home environment, a healthy team environment, a healthy church environment and for it all to bring glory to God.

What's Expected?

No you don't have to be perfect...and God doesn't expect that. He does call us to live like Jesus and we want to serve and lead how Jesus would, especially from a platform of worship leadership.

SPIRITUAL LIFE

  • I have placed faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and have identified with that belief by way of baptism.
  • I have become a member of Coastline Baptist Church.
  • I will strive for a lifestyle that resembles one who has been forgiven and saved through God’s grace.
  • I will demonstrate my commitment to Christ through practice of spiritual disciplines of prayer, worship and bible study
  • I will be involved in the vision and programs of the church as my schedule will allow me understanding that I need to support what Coastline is doing as my home church. (involvement in small groups, outreach projects, tithes and offerings etc.)
  • I will protect the unity of Coastline by acting in love towards people, by refusing to hear or speak gossip and by supporting the pastor, teaching team, and all leadership of the church.

PERSONAL INTEGRITY

As followers of Christ we are called to live a life worthy of the calling we have received from Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:1) and to witness to the good news of salvation by the way we live our lives (Matthew 5:16). Violations of any of the following can result in dismissal from the worship ministry team:

  • Habitual drunkenness and/or drug abuse
  • Marital unfaithfulness or living immorally outside the bounds of marriage
  • Criminal conduct
  • Physical or verbal abuse
  • Use, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at any time while serving.
  • Humiliate, ridicule, threaten, or degrade another team member.

SOCIAL MEDIA

I understand, that in the culture we live in, social media is an important means of communication. Team members must agree to keep their posts on social media God honoring and Coastline honoring. Leading from the platform offers you great responsibility to leverage your authority; use it well, to benefit others and most importantly to honor Jesus. Poor social media script as well as video or pictures will limit your effectiveness as well as being scheduled.

REHEARSAL & EFFECTIVE MINISTRY

I understand that rehearsals (choir, sound check, or group practice) are the appropriate times for instruction and training about the music as well as a time of fellowship and prayer as a team. It is the place and time for guidance and preparation for the presentation of music.  Members must be able to work with each other in an atmosphere of patience and understanding and not be overly sensitive. A “teachable spirit” is needed for all participants.

  • I agree to be on time and punctual as a member of the worship team.
  • I understand that Sunday morning rehearsals (at 8 AM if scheduled) are required and worship team members should arrive prepared and ready to rehearse the designated material.
  • I understand that musicians and vocalists should have open hearts to receive advice, correction, training, and should be committed to becoming proficiently skilled at their ministry.
  • I understand poor attendance and showing up late for rehearsals demonstrates a lack of discipline and respect for the ministry and other team members time.
  • If at any time I feel confused, discouraged, or unhappy with the way things may be going, I am encouraged to speak with the worship leader alone.
  • I understand that regular in person attendance to a worship service is of high value and importance. .
  • I will be engaged in the services that attend - not only an observer, but a participant.

FOR THE FELLAS.

It is our goal to look like Jesus, relatable and sharp as men. To help with that we ask that the following dress guidelines are followed. Men are encouraged to wear properly fitted collard shirts, sweaters or jackets. On some occasions or events we may wear ties and jackets.  Chinos, dress slacks or non-distressed denim  can be worn. Darker denim is preferred. Clean dress or business casual shoes may be worn. No open toed shoes.  Also hair and beards need to be well groomed. Please no long pony tails. Also facial jewelry or earrings are asked not be worn on the platform.

FOR THE LADIES.

We realize and understand that women's fashion trend is always changing and that the "world" is not always on point with modest dress. Although this may be difficult at times, we ask that ladies would maintain high degree of modesty in their apparel. Ladies are encouraged to wear non-tight knee-length dresses or skirts. It is important that these meet the length all around the hem and do not come up past the knee at any point. Leggings or non-distressed, non-ripped denim maybe be worn with either longer blouses, or sweaters with the objective of covering your front / backsides. Tops should not be revealing. Material should not be see-through or too form fitting. It is our desire that in expressions of worship with your hands that no arm pits, bellies or backsides would show. Boots, dress shoes and nice sandals may be worn. Please no flip flops.
